There is a new form of air purification system sweeping the commercial world. This new product is UVC purification and it has already shown remarkable promise for both large and small companies.
How UVC Technology Works
Understanding UVC technology is one of the easiest ways to see the full potential of this remarkable technology. In its simplest interpretation, ultraviolet light is capable of destroying bacteria, DNA and many other microorganisms. This is called Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) and the bulbs inside the air purification units generate it when supplied with power.
However, air purification isn’t as simple as generating UVGI and saying the job is done. It is necessary to measure the effectiveness of the equipment through common elements and ensure they meet your company’s requirements. These elements are:
Below, we look at each of these elements in more detail.
Dwell time refers to the length of time that microorganisms are exposed to the UVGI within the air purification unit. There are several ways to increase the dwell time, such as random-fibre matting filters. Increasing the dwell time helps achieve purified air for employees, customers and contractors within interior spaces.
Intensity is a measure of the amount of UVGI within the air purification of the system. Increasing the amount of UVC bulbs and strategically placing them within the unit can both help increase the intensity of air purifying equipment. With a higher intensity comes cleaner air that provides lasting protection.
The measure of cubic feet per minute (CFM) is used to determine the amount of air moving through the unit. The greater the volume of air, the greater the potential for UVGI to continuously kill pathogens before contamination occurs. Although, it is important to strike a balance; more on that later.
Proximity is the measure of how close each UVC bulb is to the next. It is essential to have them close enough for an overlap of UVC waves, but not so close that their maximum distance is underutilized. When proximity is designed properly, it helps to maximize the power of UVGI within the air purification unit.
How These Elements Work Together
The four elements of UVC each play their own individual role in total pathogen eradication. However, when they are incorporated together, they are capable of even greater results. Proximity comes into play when fine-tuning the intensity, which itself must be capable of cleaning the quantity of air pushed through by the CFM. In turn, the CFM must align properly with the dwell time to ensure maximally consistent results.
For commercial businesses and organizations, finding solutions that properly combine these elements can make a huge difference to their air quality. When it comes to protecting people in hospitals, schools, restaurants, cannabis facilities and other locations, trust Air Sniper to deliver high-quality products with amazing results.
